21st September 2023
With the holiday season just around the corner, the number of parcels moving through the global network is set to grow exponentially over the coming months.
To prepare its network and ensure continuity of service for the forthcoming peak, UPS has notified us that it will be introducing a Temporary Peak Service Surcharge from 1st October 2023 until 14th January 2024. Although these particular surcharges are infrequent, we must make you aware of them.
This Temporary Peak Service Surcharge will apply to Large Packages and Over Maximum Limit as well as Additional Handling as follows:
Additional Handling | GBP 5.90 |
Large Packages | GBP 56.70 |
Over Maximum Handling | GBP 239.00 |
The Temporary Peak Season Surcharge will be a flat fee per parcel, charged in addition to existing rates, surcharges and/or fees.
The Additional Handling surcharge will apply to any export or domestic package with an actual weight greater than 25kg (previously 32kg). This is a permanent change that will be effective from 1st October 2023. The Additional Handling surcharge will continue to apply to any import package with an actual weight greater than 32kg. The other parcel specifications that trigger this surcharge remain unchanged.
You can find the peak/demand surcharge rates, as well as the parcel specifications that will be affected by this surcharge in the following official UPS document:
As of now, none of our other carrier partners have implemented similar surcharges but we will inform you immediately if they do. Peak Surcharges are subject to change without notice, and peak periods may be extended or otherwise modified. We will keep you informed of any new updates.
